My husband and I were looking for somewhere to watch the game and they were very accommodating! Our waitress was on it! She got the game on, was attentive with our food and drinks. She made sure to check in regularly but not too much were it was annoying. There was live music and the band was playing some oldies and some new music! And the crowd was entertaining, definitely recommend!
WJ Tabern is a good happy hour place if you're lover of wings. Each of the flavors that we picked with legitimately good and I don't think it necessarily has a bad selection of beers. One thing -- the waitstaff wasn't as attentive when I asked for a nonalcoholic cocktail and gave me an alcoholic one. That docks a star but otherwise I think for happy hour prices, it's worth it.
I walked in on a Tuesday night. Which apparently was one of the smartest decisions I made because they have a raw bar and on Tuesdays it's a buck a shuck. Oh yeah. Oysters on the half-shell, baby. And they're all mine. The oysters were delicious. I also got the lump crab dip, which was good. They have a great selection of beers. The hush-puppies are delightful. My least favorite thing I tried was the fries, but I think that's because everything else I ate was just that good. Our waitress was awesome, keeping us happy even while dealing with multiple tables and groups. There's TV's all around the the sound is off so you can have a decent conversation without having to shout. Great place.
Visited on a Saturday afternoon, not crowded, and low noise. We were seated quickly and service was quick and efficient, the waitress was also very nice and ensured that any modifications we requested to our orders were honored. The food is great (especially the fries ). WJT also has a great brunch on the weekends which is definitely worth checking out as well. A+++ mimosas! Parking is not a problem as there are plenty of options around (street and garages).
I went here last night 5-10-24 like 11:00 pm with my boyfriend for date night . The ambiance was very chill vibes and they had a live band the lady was singing she sung several covers of songs I knew it was great!! The vibes were good the place overall had a nice bar set up and fireplaces on both sides!! The service was good consistently checking on our table and what we may have needed. The Food!!!!!....App; Fried Chicken Wings the Sriracha Honey that the waiter recommended was soooo gooood I'd definitely get them again, My Bf got the Beer Cheese & pretzel logs they sprinkled too much salt he brushed most of it off then it was good & edible, but the beer cheese was very good....we got the Tavern Burgers to Go!!! I'm impressed by the Bourbon Mayo and the Bacon Onion Jam!! and I got lettuce and tomato so I'll come back to review that!! But the burger itself was thick!!! No complaints on the burger to bun ratio at all . Since the tavern burger was ordered with 2 patties I split it and gave my mama a Pattie and she tore that sucks uppp (her words) lol it was flavorful the bacon onion jam was a great combo she'd definitely get one again. Overall I'd definitely return!! And they it's great they stay open til 2am!! So we left right on the nose of closing tiiiime
WJT always has really great service, and great reliable meals! With their daily specials and weekly deals, I think that they put a lot of creativity into their menu and customer experience. Some of my favorite menu items are their tempura cauliflower, crispy wings, ahi nachos, and french dip. Of course, their $1 oysters and other raw bar specials on Tuesdays can't be beat for this area. Overall, some of their menu items definitely outshine others, but if you're looking for a solid meal, it's a good choice!
At least based on my lunch experience, I'm surprised WJ's Tavern is rated so lowly. I loved the salmon wrap...and they even asked how we wanted our salmon done (and mine was perfect medium-rare which is my usual test of the kitchen's attention to detail). It's a great wrap with wasabi slaw poised against the strong salmon flavor with other delicious bits thrown in...but lunch also includes a wide choice of excellent sides (mine was the fine side salad and my companion's elote corn was great, too, served on two short corn cobs). Service was friendly, if a tad slow (it was an off-hour lunch) and the tavern is a cozy place to hang out. There's a great central TV bar with some hunky slinging drinks and working hard. The sour cherry pie and ice cream for dessert was also delicious. Cheap, no; but I'd go back for that salmon wrap ASAP.
Another solid takeout in the books. The Cobb salad is my old reliable, so good so fresh. The chicken is the best I've ever had (on a salad) and the balsamic is so so good. And can happily report the beer cheese tastes more like beer (it's more pronounced in a good way). Always knockout food, 10/10 would recommend.
